This centre is accredited to provide supported contact

Accreditation is a way of checking that your contact centre is safe and meets our standards.

How is a centre checked?

An assessorSomeone working on our behalf who has experience and an interest in child contact services and must assess if a service meets our standards. looks round the rooms, toys, equipment, and any outside play areas to make sure that they are safe and good for you to use. They talk with the people at the centre to make sure that they are trained and helped to do their job as well as possible. They then check the informationThe assessor checks through the centre’s accreditation portfolio which includes policies, procedures, risk assessments, reports (if the service offers supervised contact) and information for families. on what happens at the centre and how it keeps you safe.

When the assessor is happy that a centre meets our standards then they are awarded their accreditation and you can find them on this website. Accreditation happens every three years with extra checks if needed.

Accreditation Summary

Date: 17/12/2024

Summary:

Clevedon & Nailsea Child Contact Centre has moved premises following their accreditation visit in February 2025 and therefore was visited in July 2026 to ensure that the venue was appropriate for its purpose. The summary below will be altered as soon as possible to take account of the new venue.

Update 01/05/2026: Please note that this accreditation has been transferred to the Somerset Child Contact Centres group which runs several supported centres throughout Somerset.

North Somerset Child Contact Centre is a well-established service managed by the Mothers’ Union Diocese of Bath and Wells. They operate centres in Clevedon and Nailsea with families using both venues to enable them to have fortnightly family time. The Clevedon centre runs from Christchurch, Chapel Hill in Clevedon, is close to the town centre with shops and public transport nearby. There is limited parking on site but off-road parking and a drop off point.

The centre has a warm and friendly atmosphere with a large space to play with plenty of toys. There is a smaller room available off the main hall which has sofas and opportunities for quiet play and reading.  This is ideal for babies or young children.

The service has relevant information and leaflets available for prospective and current families. This information helps them to anticipate everything from making a referral to the appropriate steps to take if they are unhappy or feel unsafe.

The people running the service are friendly and knowledgeable. Any recommended actions following the visit are now complete meaning the service meets the standards for supported family time accreditation.
