Notes from this centre

Centre is fully open for contact.

This centre is accredited to provide supervised contact

Accreditation is a way of checking that your contact centre is safe and meets our standards.

How is a centre checked?

An assessorSomeone working on our behalf who has experience and an interest in child contact services and must assess if a service meets our standards. looks round the centre’s rooms, toys, equipment, and any outside play areas to make sure that they are safe and good for you to use. They talk with the people at the centre to make sure that they are trained and helped to do their job as well as possible. They then check the informationThe assessor checks through the centre’s accreditation portfolio which includes policies, procedures, risk assessments, reports (if the service offers supervised contact) and information for families. on what happens at the centre and how it keeps you safe. If your family time happens in the community The service might use local community venues to deliver their service or in some cases, residential properties including family members’ homes, where this is safe and appropriate., then the assessor will check that this is going to be safe for you.

When the assessor is happy that a centre meets our standards then they are awarded their accreditation and you can find them on this website. Accreditation happens every three years with extra checks if needed.

Accreditation Summary

Summary:

Diamonds Kidz Contact Services has been in operation for three years and is run by volunteers. The service has a board of trustees responsible for funding and service management with the coordinator managing the day to day running of referrals and contact sessions. The service operates out of two venues that are hired when contact sessions are booked. These are Harmony Hall based in Walthamstowe and Epic Centre based in Leytonstone.

Diamonds Kidz Contact Services Ltd endeavours to work with the parent/s so that they have been given the resources to enhance the quality time they spend with their child/ren.

Harmony Hall is a multi-cultural family centre serving the people of central Walthamstow. The premises are ideally located just off the busy Walthamstow Market and five minutes’ walk from Walthamstow Central train, bus and tube stations. Diamonds Kidz hires two contact rooms with a small kitchen for use if required along with separate toilets. The centre has recently been decorated and there is a small office at the front entrance where the manager/deputy manager for the premises is on duty at all times when it is open. On entry to the building, it states clearly that all must wear face coverings and throughout the building there are hand sanitisers in the corridors along with cleaning products and hand sanitisers in each room.

The centre takes both private and local authority referrals. There is good range of equipment available for families to use but under the current climate (Covid 19) families bring their own toys. All the volunteers have the relevant qualifications and experience to supervise contact sessions and the necessary Covid 19 risk assessments and processes are in place. All workers wear PPE at all times along with families.

The centre is child friendly with a good selection of equipment available for families to use but due to the current climate, families bring in their own toys to use during the contact sessions and take them home after the session has finished. The centre provides an environment where the ideals, abilities and needs of different people from varied backgrounds, cultures and perspectives are valued and accommodated. The centre has a diverse staff group that reflects the local community.

There is a good variety of equipment for all ages of children during their contact sessions.  All community sessions have an updated risk assessment completed and careful and discreet supervision is maintained by the contact workers. All contact rooms are in an excellent decorative order and maintained to a high standard. If available, the centre also has use of a large hall area.

The centre provides a good quality service for their users and volunteer contact workers.

Centre testimonials

"I just want to express my gratitude to Diamonds Kidz contact centre in Walthamstow and Leytonstone that has helped me in 2 ways such as building my relationship with my son and even better growing my confidence. The way Hilda and her staff conducts themselves is amazing, always professional and always listening and giving advice on how to build. I would highly recommend this contact centre to anyone who needs a centre to build their relationship. Once again thank you ‘Diamonds Kidz Centre’ for welcoming us for 7 weeks and rebuilding my relationship with my boy. "
