Summary:
Embrace Child Contact Centre is a long-established well-run Centre that operates in suitable premises in St. Thomas’ Church. The Centre is pleasant and comfortable with all the required Health and Safety measures in place. It has all the necessary policies and procedures including a range of measures to accommodate the pandemic. There is a committed management committee that includes the Coordinator and Team leaders.
The Centre is run by the coordinator on a voluntary basis and she provides good oversight of both volunteers and families. Team Leaders take responsibility for the smooth running of the sessions which run on alternate Saturdays. Volunteers are suitably recruited, DBS checked and trained. The Centre has changed its opening hours to accommodate Covid safety requirements so there are 3×1 hour sessions with 8 families currently attending and a waiting list of 8. Risks are assessed and managed. Safeguarding and other safety measures are in place.
Pre-visits currently take place by telephone but would usually be done in person and include the children if appropriate. The necessary information is passed to the volunteers for the sessions and only limited basic information passed onto referrers by the coordinator on request.
The coordinator regularly talks to families to review their progress and obtain feedback. The centre is sustainable with its current reserves for the time being but would like to recruit more volunteers and open for more sessions in the future.
There have been no complaints to date.
