Volunteers at Leicester Family Contact Centre [LFCC], who provide NACCC accredited child contact services, recently welcomed Liz Kendall, Member of Parliament for Leicester West and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
The visit highlighted the essential role LFCC plays in the community and proved a fantastic opportunity for the team to showcase the incredible work they do.
Liz learnt about the centre’s vital work to support local children, young people, and families. She gained insight into the centre’s operations; the positive impact it has on families, and the funding challenges they currently face.
Established in 1989, LFCC is a volunteer-run charity operating from St Martin’s House as part of Leicester Cathedral’s Community Outreach Programme.
The centre opens every Saturday from 1pm – 4pm, delivering NACCC accredited supported contact sessions, where children and young people can reconnect with non-resident parents/family members following divorce or separation.
With a wide selection of toys, games, art equipment and resources suitable for all ages, the centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for children to thrive.
Its central location makes it easily accessible for families using public transport and there are plenty of child-friendly amenities nearby for when families are able to enjoy short outings together.
