In response to NACCC’s awareness campaign, South Gloucestershire Child Contact Centre focussed on their local MP to bring attention to child contact centres.
Steve Webb, MP for Thornbury and Yate, visited the centre and stayed for around 2 hours. In that time he spoke with clients, learned about the history of the contact centre and was keen to learn how he could support the work of the centre.
During the awareness campaign the centre distributed leaflets, posters and letters to local schools, doctor’s surgeries, libraries nurseries, toddler groups as well as other interested parties. This has resulted in a number of enquires regarding volunteering at the centre.
Sonia Morgan , secretary of the management committee, reported that the volunteers and management committee welcomed the publicity.
