Staff and volunteers at Neath Port Talbot Child Contact Centre recently welcomed Stephen Kinnock, MP for Aberafan Maesteg, to learn more about the centre’s vital work supporting local children, young people and families.
Following the visit, Stephen Kinnock said:
I was delighted to visit Neath Port Talbot Child Contact Centre and speak with the volunteers about the work they do to facilitate contact between children and non-resident parents and other family members. It was wonderful to see the warm and friendly child-centred environment they’ve created where children can spend quality time with family members. I was blown away by the dedication and care of the volunteers.
Established in 2005, Neath Port Talbot child contact centre provides NACCC accredited supported contact services, helping children and young people reconnect with non-resident parents and family members following a separation.
Operating from a local Methodist church in the heart of the Sandfields community in Port Talbot, Wales, the centre opens on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. It offers a safe, spacious, and welcoming environment filled with a wide selection of toys, games, and resources suitable for children of all ages.
Families attending the centre benefit from a dedicated bright and airy contact room, a separate waiting area, a kitchen, and a welcoming entrance space. The centre is also fully accessible for those with mobility needs.
