Phil from NACCC travelled to the accredited child contact centre in Melton Mowbray on Monday to award long service certificates to the volunteers that run this thriving centre and to be part of the centre’s annual meeting as an organisation. The volunteers kept the centre’s vital service running through much of lockdown which included offering virtual contact to enable children to spend time with the family members they couldn’t see due to their parents’ divorce or separation.

Three volunteers have been serving the local community for 22 years which is an amazing achievement including Helen, the co-ordinator who oversees the running of the centre which is open every Saturday afternoon. She told us:
“It was great that Phil from NACCC could attend our meeting – we really do appreciate it and it is so useful to see how we fit into the bigger picture….”

Helen went onto say “We couldn’t run without the commitment of our volunteer team and this occasion gave us the opportunity to recognise the hard work that they put in week by week. We’re here to keep offering a warm and comfortable space for local children affected by divorce and separation to maintain these important family relationships and hope we can continue offering this service in the years to come”.

Melton Mowbray Child Contact Centre has a central location, using the premises of Sage Cross Methodist Church (next door to Morrison’s) making it accessible for parents living locally or who are travelling to the area by bus or train.
